Abstract
Toluene diisocyanate (TDI) is one of the most common causes of occupational asthma in Korea and radish is one of the most common vegetables in Korean diet.
To investigate the relatioships between TDI asthma and radish hypersensitivity, we performed skin prick tests with fresh radish extract and bronchial provocation test with TDI and fresh radish extract in four TDI asthmatics and two patients who
was
proven to have radish hypersensitivity.
@ES The results were as following;
@EN 1) Skin prick test was positive in one patient with radish hypersensitivity and two of three TDI asthma patients whom we performed prick test.
2) Bronchial provocation test with fresh radish extract was positive in 2 of 4 TDI asthma patients.
3) All of two patients with radish hypersensitivity elicited a positive bronchial provocation test with TDI.
4) These findings suggested that there might be a bronchial cross reactivity between TDI and sulfur containing ingredients of fresh radish.
